These courses are designed to assist management and staff recognize what situations require the application of de-escalation techniques with difficult, unreasonable, aggressive and/or aggravated people. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the courses.

Management of Resistant Behavior- MORB
Course Description-
This lectured and video supported course will center on a person in “crisis” and the appropriate staff responses. The course will continue to examine staff safety issues and stress management techniques when dealing with aggressive subjects.
Course Objective Overview-
Identify components, factors and indicators of a crisis.
Examine the 4 stages and staff responses to a subject in crisis.
How to effectively deal with challenging questions and perceived threats.
Understand the strategies for setting limits, while being empathic.
Review effective communication and active listening skills.

Criminal Code-
Course Description-
The intent and design of this lectured course is to provide participants with a unique look at the criminal justice system from a security perspective. Participants will engage in examination of specific parts of the code which apply to use of force for security participants.
Course Objective Overview-
Examine Canadian Charter, Arrest and Self-Defense Act, Powers of Arrest and Use of Force applications.
Define Common Terms and Arrest Offences.

Crisis Management-
Course Description-
The intention of this video and lectured course is to offer participants the basics in identifying, preventing and managing crisis situations. In addition, participants will learn to recognize potential risks and acquire techniques on how to respond to such incidents.

Course Description-
This lectured course takes a best practice approach to hospital restraint programs through guided activities. The course is an excellent introduction for participants who wish to explore opportunities in healthcare.

Course Description-
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the information required when effectively dealing with subjects that have a sharp edge weapon. In addition, participants will have an opportunity for hands-on application of defensive techniques.

Identify edge weapon grips and common defense movement lines.
Understand the “21 foot rule”.

Subject Restraint-
Course Description-
This lectured course with video support is designed for professionals who in the course of their duties may need to employ physical response options or use restraints when confronted by high risk individuals.

Understand the components of handcuffs.
Review control applications and positioning techniques.
Examine grounding, excited delirium, and positional asphyxia.

Serve Smart and Stay Safe Program-
Course Description- The “Serve Smart and Stay Safe” course is designed to provide hospitality professionals with the tools and hand on practical sessions they need to excel in their roles while maintaining a safe and compliant environment for customers and staff. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of safety protocols, de-escalation best practices and a commitment to creating a positive experience for all.
